End-of-year awards

Three of our annual awards honour the outstanding service of founding members of the Club.

 This award honours Jack Milton, who joined the Ringwood Amateurs in 1963. He was successful in the Warrnambool International over a period of several years, was keen on black and white photography, and instrumental in encouraging a print group within the club. He also served on the committee for several years and held the treasurer’s position from June 1968 until his untimely death, whilst in office, in July 1978. 

The Champion B-grade EDI 

This award honours Loris Peggie, who joined the Ringwood Amateur Photography Club in November 1962 and soon became involved on the committee where she served for 22 successive terms, including many years in a secretarial role and two terms as president from 1978 to 1980. In fact, she held every executive position except treasurer. During her term as president in 1979, Loris researched and was instrumental in producing the booklet on the club’s first 21 years.
In recognition of her exceptional service to photography in Victoria, Loris was awarded a State Service Award from VAPS (SSVAPS) in 1976 and then in 1991, was made an Associate of the Australian Photographic Society (AAPS).

In 1986, she gained 17 acceptances from seven national or international exhibitions.

Loris still attends many club meetings.

The highest aggregate for B-grade EDIs

The award honours Audrey Crawford, who joined the Ringwood Amateur Photography Club in 1971. Having first joined the committee of RAPC in 1972, Audrey served a mammoth 25 terms, including three terms as secretary, 13 terms as vice-president and two terms as president from 1993 until 1995. Audrey was, for many years, our most successful member at club level, interclub and national competitions and gained numerous acceptances at national and international photographic exhibitions and awards. In 1986 alone, she gained 25 acceptances from eight national and/or international exhibitions. In 1987 she was awarded a State Service Award from VAPS, in recognition of her exceptional service to photography in Victoria and then, in December 1992, RAPC honoured Audrey by making her a life member of the club.

Audrey was accepted as an Associate of the Australian Photographic Society (AAPS) in 2001.

Sadly, Audrey passed away in June 2012, but the club was most fortunate to have had her as an esteemed member for so many years.
